With Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle still on a record-breaking theatrical run, Crunchyroll Executive Vice President of Global Commerce, Mitchel Berger has officially clarified on the streaming release of the film. The film has earned the largest gross of any anime movie ever at the North American box office of all time and a global gross to date of up to $616 million.
Nevertheless, to watch Infinity Castle at home, the fans will have to be patient. In another interview with Popverse, Berger affirmed that the movie will not stream in 2025. It is only in theaters that you can watch Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle, and hence my statement, go see it in 2025 because this is the only way to do it in 2025, he said. It implies that viewers will most probably have to wait until early 2026, when it will get a streaming release.
The first of three films adapting the story of Infinity Castle is a kind of a "larger than life" coda to the Demon Slayer story, taking the place of what would have been a fifth season of the anime TV series. The movie is based on the adventures of Tanjiro Kamado and other members of the Demon Slayer Corps who are involved in an epic conflict with the huge Infinity Castle.
Since 2019, Funimation and Crunchyroll have been the streaming home of Demon Slayer in the U.S. Although the series and movies have previously been made available on other sites such as Netflix, new episodes and movies are usually available on Crunchyroll soon after their release in Japan. As an example, Demon Slayer: Mugen Train was released in the United States theaters on April 23, 2021, and did not arrive on Crunchyroll until June. Likewise, To the Swordsmith Village, an adaptation of early Season 3 episodes to theaters, ran approximately one month after the U.S. release.
However, it is not the case with Infinity Castle. Being a huge theatrical release on Sony and Toho Animation, the film will spend as much time in theaters as possible to gather as much box office before a streaming release. Although no specific date is verified, the full-scale streaming launch should occur sometime sometime during Q1 2026.
