History and Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba continue to go side by side this week. On September 29, Sony Pictures Entertainment revealed that Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – Infinity Castle has officially become the first Japanese movie to cross the US$600 million milestone at the global box office. In Japan, it has also joined the exclusive club of films surpassing 35 billion yen, the second ever after Mugen Train.
The film concluded its third weekend in theatres with US dollars of 7.1 million in the U.S. and the total course of action in the domestic market amounted to US dollars 118.17. This disaggregation was US1.81 million on Friday, US3.05 on Saturday and US 2.23 million on Sunday. These numbers make it the most successful foreign language release in the U.S. since Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (2000) that earned US$128 million.
In Japan, the movie has already earned 35.06 billion yen (approximately US236.9 million) selling a total of more than 24.26 million tickets within only 73 days. After this success, the official social media account of the franchise stated that it would cease to post updated results of the box office periodically.
Outside Japan and the U.S., the movie has also been performing strongly. Reported grosses include:
- Mexico – US$16.6 million
- Germany – US$12.5 million
- France – US$12.3 million
- India – US$9.0 million
- UK – US$8.4 million
- Brazil – US$8.1 million
- Indonesia – US$7.3 million
- Thailand – US$7.0 million
- Malaysia – US$6.7 million
- Spain – US$6.7 million
With these totals, Infinity Castle currently ranks as the 8th highest-grossing film worldwide in 2025, just behind Superman.
In South Korea, KOBIS reports the film has brought in US$38.82 million with over 5 million admissions, putting it within striking distance of the country’s top box office title of the year. It is only US$40,000 away from surpassing F1. However, My Daughter is a Zombie will still hold the crown for ticket sales.
The film, directed by Haruo Sotozaki at ufotable, has Akira Matsushima as chief animation director and character designer, Yuki Kajiura and Go Shiina as music directors. It first aired in Japan on July 18, and then travelled to the U.S. and Canada on September 12. Ticket sales all over the world are continuing.
In the meantime, Crunchyroll is still airing the television series, the Movie of the Mugen Train, and the most recent Arc of Hashira Training, complete in both dubbed and subtitled.
